Namaste,
During hindi we learned two new swar इ, ई. इ से इस्तरी, इमारत, इमली ई से ईख We practiced writing them in correct way. We also played telephone game. After that each kid got chance to ask a hindi word to other person ex if one gives word goat other has to tell "Bakri" then he ask word to other & so on.
At this age they are introduced to hindi language for first time so they tend to forget a lot. Please keep on revising hindi with them at home.
For show & tell Isan bansal shared "Sher". All other kids forgot there turn. Please make sure kids come prepared for show & tell at there turn so that we can move smoothly ahead & everyone will get the chance. This weeks kid Prachi, Ishaan Mirchandani,Ansh will get chance to do show & tell again next week.
In circle time we shared "Panchatantra book" which was brought by Akash. We looked at all the animals pictures and kids told what they are called in hindi. Some animals were sher,bhalu,bhed,bander...
For spoken hindi, we emphasized on using "मे " in sentence. ex : ग्लास मे पानी है. डिब्बे मे क्रयोन(Crayon) है. Please refer to chapter 10 in spoken hindi folder. It's under parents tab on Gurukul website.
During culture hour we have shown the power point presentation about Holi to Kids. We talked that Holi is India’s spring festival. The first day is “Holika Dahan” (like a bonfire) which is the significance of burning the evil and the next day is Holi where everybody plays with colors (gulal) and water colors in pichakari, balloon by throwing on each other. Special drink “Thandai” is made and lots of sweets are made at home.
Kids knew a lot about Holi and few remembered holi at Gurukul last time. J
I asked questions like who all played holi? What kind of colors did you use? Tell me colors in Hindi. Tell one special thing about Holi? All kids participated in answering these questions.
Then we placed the cardboard sheets around kids and gave them crayons to color each other on the cardboard sheet. Kids had lot of fun running around and coloring on cardboard sheets.
Thanks to Rajashree (Reva's mom) for helping us out for cultural hour.
Dhanyawad, Yogita
