| How can I register my child to attend Gurukul classes? | You can pre-register your child for Gurukul classes by sending email to enroll@gurukul-wa.org with following information:

Pre-registration does not guarantee enrollment. It only places your child on the wait list for the next session. This will make sure that you are contacted when we do registration. Confirmed registration will depend on space availability and number of teaching volunteers. | |
| When does Gurukul Registration start? | Gurukul accepts pre-registration requests via email to enroll@gurukul-wa.org throughout the year. Please note that Pre-registering your child will only place them on the wait list and does not guarantee a seat. This will enable us to contact you when Gurukul does registration.
Gurukul generally holds an official registration event during April or May. We will publish the registration dates on the website and communicate the information to all who have sent email to enroll@gurukul-wa.org. | |
| How old must my child be enroll in Gurukul? | The child must be 5 years old by September 30th, of the session year.

| When does the Gurukul session start and end? | Gurukul sessions begin the first Sunday, after Labor Day, in September. The classes are conducted most every Sunday through May of the following year. Please view the calendar for more detailed schedule of classes. | |
| What is the timing for the classes? | Main classes are held every Sunday from 11AM - 1PM. | |
| What is the fee for attending Gurukul? | The fee for the 2005 session is $225 per student for the whole year. The fee for each additional student from the same family is $200.
Gurukul is run by volunteers. However the fee covers the cost of renting the space, materials and events. Payment for the full year is taken during registration.

| What is the refund policy? | Gurukul will refund 100% of the fee up to 2 weeks prior to the first day of class. 50% of the fee will be refunded within and up to 2 weeks after the 1st day of class. No refund will be provided after 2 weeks of classes. | |
| Who teaches the classes? | Classes are taught by pre-selected volunteers from our own community. Two teachers and one parent volunteer are present during each class. | |
| How many kids are in each class? | Class size varies depending on the level and age group. The number of kids can be between 12-18 per class. | |
| What is the common routine of the classes? | 10:50AM - Parents drop kids to classroom. 11:00AM - Classes begin with Gurukul prayer, "Tumhi ho maata, pita tumhee ho". 11-12PM - Hindi language lesson. 12:00PM - Snack Break
12:10PM - Cultural eduction 12:55PM - Indian National Anthem. 01:00PM - Parents pick up kids from classroom.

| What events are held during the year? | Navratri / Diwali - Dance to Dandiya, Raas, Garba music. Sweets and snacks provided.
Annual Day - Children demonstrate what they have learnt throughout the year.
Picnic/Holi - Play Indian games, socialize and snacks. Play Holi with "gulal".

| Can I register during the first day of class? | No! Registration requests during the first day of class disrupt the classes and all the planning and preperations for the session. | |
| How can I help? | Volunteering Opportunities
You can volunteer in many ways to help run Gurukul. Here are some opportunities. Send mail to volunteer@gurukul-wa.org with your interest.
- Hindi Teacher: Teaches Hindi language to a class.
- Culture Teacher: Teaches cultural education to a class.
- Events: You can help with planning and execution of various events such as Diwali, Annual Day, Picnic/Holi and Summer Camp.
- Cultural Resource Groups: You can participate in one of many resource groups to help cultural education at Gurukul. Three groups (Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced) are responsible for cultural education for the current year. Other groups are “New Topics”, “Audio/Visual” and “Demonstrations”. More detailed information will be available on Gurukul website soon.
- Hindi Resource Groups: You can participate in one of many resource groups to help Hindi language education at Gurukul. You can assist with revising the syllabus through out the year by getting feedback from teachers and parents. You can also help figure out the best way to help our children with conversations. More detailed information will be available on Gurukul website soon.
- Administration: You can help with website management, running daily Gurukul operations as well as taking care of supplies and registration process.

| Can I register my child during the Gurukul session? | No. We do not accept new children in middle of the session as it become very difficult for child to adjust to the class as well as it impacts the class which is already in progress. | |
| Late Registration Penalty | Gurukul will charge a late registration penalty of $50 for any late registration requests in which we can accomodate. Additionally this fees will be applied to existing registered students who have not submitted the proper forms and fees by July 15th of the current year. | |
| Where are the Gurukul classes held? | The classes are held at Lake Washington Technical College.
