Gurukul volunteer requirements
Welcome to another Gurukul year.
As you know, Gurukul is a volunteer run organization.We are looking for following volunteers.
Library
We need 2- 3 volunteers who will be taking on the responsibility of managing Gurukul library. One of the group members will be responsible for the team’s schedule coordination.
They will plan for the material, coordinate it’s purchase, follow up the lost material, send reminders to Gurukul community about library closures, manage the book drives etc.
It will be a group effort. You do not have to be present for complete duration of Gurukul. Depending on the mutual convenience the group will work out the coverage plan. We may also get some volunteers for routine check in and checkout effort.
Office
We need 4-6 volunteers for office opening and closing activities. One of the group members will be responsible for the team’s schedule coordination.
You need not be present during the complete Gurukul duration. There will be Gurukul cabinet members present in the office during the Gurukul office Hours.
Depending on if you are opening or closing you will have to come 15 minutes earlier ( 10:45 am) or stay 15 minutes later (1:30pm).
Responsibilities include bringing/ returning the material carts, putting up the class signs, help distribute the material, help prepare cultural material, set up / wrap up the tea etc.
Volunteer coordinator
We need 1- 2 volunteers who will be the responsible for volunteer coordination. Cabinet, teachers and others will approach you with the needs and you will be responsible to contact and get the volunteers that can help in these needs. Gurukul has been always fortunate to have lot of dedicated volunteers but there is an opportunity to formalize and automate the process. These volunteers will be working closely with the web site administration team.
Events
Gurukul events committee needs help ( 3- 4 volunteers) with staff lunch planning, planning catering, distribution, event planning, events set up. You need not be present during Gurukul hours. You will be part of the large team that has been executing successful Gurukul events for so many years.
Web site development/ content management
Last year Gurukul launched online registration, that is just the beginning… This year we have an agenda of stream lining / utilizing the SharePoint capabilities to automate the admin work. We also plan to use SharePoint site as the main communication tool. We are looking for volunteers (4- 5) who can contribute in different areas
- Web application ( asp) development
- SharePoint content management
- SQL / report development
- XLS and other administration help
Cultural help
Gurukul Cultural committee plans and executes the cultural curriculum. As part of the cultural curriculum, students do lot of small projects, art and craft work. We need volunteers ( 4- 5) who will help in creating these kits, planning of the projects, assemble the material, distribute in the classes. You need not be present during the complete Gurukul duration. Lot of this work can be done from home.
