  1. Draw the picture of your family in the given square and cut and paste the appropriate name to each family member. The page is the first Homework sheet in your Gurukul folder towards the end.

Sept 16th HW: Due on 23rd
  1. Hindi:  Page 5 in the homework section of the booklet.   The child has to Write about himself/herself in the given spaces and draw a self portrait in the mirror. They can also color the cake if they want.
  2. Cultural:  Color the Taj Mahal.  Please talk about the story behind Taj Mahal and WHERE it is located.
Body parts
The kids have to finish page 3 from their Gurukul book.
Please revise numbers and colors with your child.

Sept 30th: Homework due on Oct 6th
Hindi: Please review all the colors with them  as they will be quizzed on the colors in the next class.
 
Cultural:
  •    Children were given a coloring page of three monkeys.  Color the monkeys with different colors and write down underneath each monkey "Suno OR dekho OR bolo" depending on what the monkey is doing.

Please take the printout of the sheet of the file attached and match the correct name of the animal.
 
We are also sending the file in email in case you run into issues opening the file.
Animals 2: Homework due on Oct 21st
Another set of animals to match to pick up further vocabulary.  The file was sent as an attachment to the summary email.

Please revise colors, animals, body parts, and numbers upto 15 with your child since we wil be reviewing them in the next class.

Revision Nov 11th
Please revise whatever has been taught to your child so far. Especially numbers, colors, fruits and vegetables and animals.
The children should be able to identify each number upto 20 not just know them in order.

Days of the Week and a Poem 1/20/08
Hindi:
Children are supposed to do Page 6 from their Gurukul book
Please practice this poem with your child as they will be asked to say it in the class.
Poorab se Suraj nikle
Aur Paschim me dhal jaata hai
Subah, Dopahar, Shaam Raat ka
Chakkar yahi chalata hai.
 
Cultural:  Color the flag picture we sent with Indian flag colors and glue it to the stick.
Jan 27th Poems
Please help your child in memorizing the poems.
1  Chote chote paon kya karte hain
2   Aaloo bola mujhko kha lo
 
They will be expected to say the whole poem on their own.

Please help your child in completing page 9 in  which they have to color the ballons.
Please practice some of the common used words for their vocabualry building.

HW due on March23rd
   I will send a separate email about Annual day so look for it and please respond quickly to it.  This time the homework is in three parts:
1)  Please ask your child to write each letter ई, उ, ऊ five times. Practice words starting with these letters.
2)  Practice the following sentences about colors and their meanings with your child:
Yeh Kitab <laal/bhura/peela/etc> rang ki hai.  Practice this on different occasions with different books and other objects.
Tum <laal,bhura...> rang ke <shirt/pant/etc> pehane ho.  Practice this on different days.
3) Practice the verbs उड़ना, भागना, दौद्दना, चलना, उछलना, कूदना, गिरना, उठना, बैटना, (Uddna, bhagna, daudna, chalna, uchalna, koodna,  Girna, Uttna, baittna).  Try the following sentences:
Chidiya/Hawai-jahaj udti/udta hai.
Hirann/cheetah daudta hai.
ladka/ladki chalta/chalti hai.
Bunder uchalta/kudta hai.
Ped/phool ugta hai.
Ram/Sita baitha/baithti hai.
Please try other sentences and get them to be creative about it but try short three word sentences.  NOTE: We will play a game next time with some of these verbs and we do not want the childern to feel lost while playing it.
 
HW due on 30th
Hindi:  Print out the attachment called BeginningSoundExercise and please read the parent guide and aid your child in completing it.
 
Cultural:  Color the Rangoli handout given to your child.
