| | | | | Hindi:
- Draw your "Parivar Tree" and identify family member titles in Hindi (parents will need to help children)
- Color body parts page - identify and match body part with its name in the table to the right. Different colors for different body parts
- Recite "Svar" at home so that children can practice again in the class
Culture:
Finish coloring the Taj Mahal picture. In the map of India, show them the states where their parents were born and ask them to color those states. | | | | | Homework #1: Students were given a worksheet with the vowels in Hindi listed once. Students are to copy each vowel a total of 5 times so that they can become experts on how to write as well as identify the Hindi vowels.
Homework #2: Students should also complete the similar worksheet on numbers 1 - 10 in Hindi and copy each numeral a total of 5 times. This way, students can become pros in Hindi numerals as well. | | | | | For Hindi, the homework is optional and should be considered a stretch assignment for the children. The feedback from Om-ji and Praful-ji is that the class needs to follow the curriculum closely and focus on conversational Hindi. The ability to write numbers and alphabets is convered in higher level courses and the children may not be ready for it.
Going forward we will be focusing on story reading, conversational games, and interaction in a less formal environment with kids gathering in the front of the class in a circle. My hope is that we can continue to stimulate and encourage children of all levels of Hindi knowledge. I may still have some stretch assignments but please consider those as optional and no need to turn them in. | | | | | Draw a picture of your family on the first Homework sheet almost at the back of the Gurukul folder. Cut and paste the given names to each family member.
Please bring a Photograph of your family to the next class.
Those who have already completed the sheet, make sure to bring it to the next class. | | | | | Review the topics - body parts, numbers (1-20), family tree, colors, and days of the week.
| | | | | Please review with your child names of vegetables and animals.
Optional: Print svar.xls and practice writing each vowel 5 times. | | |
